Visit Certified Public Accountant Mike Clayton in his office and you're likely to get an idea of his fondness for the outdoors - including bow hunting and predator calling - and his love for his wife, Lisa, their four adult children and one grandchild.
The Northwoods dŽcor and framed family photos are prominent in Clayton's accounting office located in the building formerly occupied by Jim Carlson accounting, at the intersection of Norway and Second Street.
In fact, family was a big reason the Claytons left their Hettinger, N.D., home a few months ago to move to the Brainerd Lakes area, closer to three of their children that live in the metro area.
"We love it out here," Clayton said of Northern Minnesota. "It's just a big adventure for us."
Clayton, a Dickinson State University graduate, has been a CPA for 20 years. His business will offer full accounting services including tax return preparation and investment services. He is Securities Licensed. Clayton also offers personal, business and corporate trust services; payroll and bookkeeping assistance; and other financial services.
Clayton said that he respects the way that Carlson ran his business and he looks forward to continuing to serve clients.
